Courses
Since 2013, I have been giving writing courses at Elder College located at the University of the Fraser Valley in Chilliwack, British Columbia. Each course covered non-fiction, fiction, articles and editorials, memoirs, writing for children, publishing and marketing.
Writing a story begins long before you start writing a story. After writing for over 50 years, I want to share what I have learned with anyone who plans on starting a writing career or who wants to take their writing to another level.
I plan on launching micro courses, identifying specific areas of interest or particular challenges many writers face. These micro courses will be short, focused and fun.
Future courses will include development of such skills as finding stories, looking for unique angles, pitching a story to an editor, basic research, how to do an interview, getting started with the first draft, writer's block, subsequent drafts, grammar, editorial rules, the four pillars from an editor's perspective, the polish, and so much more.
