Earthways Presentations

Enjoy a talk and video presentation by author and journalist Margaret Evans about the natural behaviour of domestic
horses and how closely linked they are to their wild ancestry.

The talk not only focuses on the central theme of the natural behaviour of domestic horses but it encompasses a wide scope that
looks at our association with horses through time. Margaret touches on ancient history and cave art, the early Kazakhstan culture
and the people who first domesticated horses, archaeology in Alberta and proof that horses were being hunted during the last Ice Age,
the value of horses to Saxon warriors, evolutionary science and the development of the horse, as well as stories, anecdotes,
and personal observations.

Audiences are really enjoying the presentations. There are often people in the audience who have had a horse in their past or
their parents used horses on the family farm. The talk evokes fond memories, which they like to share with others.

The talk is about an hour long with some extra time for discussion afterwards. However, the time can be adjusted to
fit your organization’s schedule.

A BEAR’S WORLD is a one-hour presentation that explores the world of bears. It includes video, stills and music and it covers
the evolution of bears, their global distribution, their range, physical characteristics and their behaviour. The talk focuses on bear issues
today and the challenges that confront people and bears in backcountry. The talk also highlights the story of Grinder and Coola, two grizzly
bears at the Grouse Mountain Refuge for Endangered Wildlife in Vancouver B.C. Both bears were rescued as orphans in 2001.

New this year is ECHO OF AN OCEAN that explores the challenges facing the worlds oceans and research on marine mammals. Featured are sea lions, sea otters, dolphins, harbour seals and much more! The talk is about an hour long.
